Emily + Drayton | Carters Lake Dam Sunset Session

What better place to have an Engagement Photography Session than in the clouds? Emily & Drayton wanted a location for their engagement photos that was as epic as their love, and Carters Lake Dam delivered. With several beautiful spots to walk along and take in the mountain view, this session felt like an effortless, date-like experience.

Carters Dam is the tallest earthen dam east of the Mississippi, located in Chatsworth, Georgia. It was completed in 1977 to control flooding from the Coosawatee River and generate power. The dam places its visitors over the water, with a breathtaking view of the sunset and a gorgeous winding road.

My favorite part about this location for an engagement session is the built in symbolism of the winding road. Carts Lake Dam worked beautifully as a metaphor for the journey ahead for a couple soon to be married, and the road they will travel together.

I enjoyed every minute of this session so much, and can’t wait to photograph Emily & Drayton’s big day next month! Enjoy! ♥️

Lets Connect!

If you love this location as much as I do, let’s get a sunset session on the calendar for you! This location would be gorgeous for solo portraits, couples, and families ♥️ I can’t wait to chat about your ideas!
